2 Months later: Still No Social Media

Hey guys!

It’s been just over two months now since I quit all social media (not including LinkedIn), so I thought I’d give you an update!

If you’re not familiar with how this started, here is the post where it all started: Should I delete my social media? and a brief update a few days later in Piercings, Volleyball, Assignments and More.

To be honest, I haven’t missed it! The only times I missed it was as something to fill dead time, for example, during the first week, I would get my phone out when I went to the ladies due to boredom πŸ˜€ Silly things like that. However, this habit quickly went away.

The main time I used to go on social media was in the mornings and before bed, I used to spend at least 30 minutes on it each time. I actually find that I sleep better without looking at my mobile for so long before bed now! πŸ™‚ I’m also tired less in the morning. It must be something to do with the light the screen gives off which makes you tired, yeah? If you know why please let me know in the comments as I’d really like to know! πŸ™‚

I was a bit worried I’d replace social media with mobile games – I haven’t. I currently only play one mobile game but I play it rarely,Β  not even once a week. It’s one of those silly farming games πŸ˜€ You know the ones πŸ˜‰

I do feel more productive now that I’ve quit social media, not because I’ve started learning a language or anything else in my spare time, but because I get other stuff done more quickly without the distraction.

I don’t really know what to say, I definitely don’t regret it. I have been tempted to re-download Twitter though. I’ve had advice from a museum professional who works in the field that I would like to work in, she advised that on Mondays there’s a Twitter update that teaches about different aspects of museum work. It sounds very interesting! However, I’m still reluctant to download it for that alone.

Stress wise, I definitely feel less stressed without it. I’m not learning about heart-breaking news stories or peoples rants now, therefore I’ve cut some negativity from my circle πŸ™‚

Are you thinking of taking time out from or giving up social media? Let me know in the comments! πŸ™‚
